1. Carefully observe the signs of sow delivery: the sow's vulva is swollen, congested and the color changes from red to purple before delivery. Sows have nesting behavior. When the performance suddenly stops eating, the breath speeds up, fidgety and restless, when up and down, frequent defecation and urination, pulling small and soft excrement, each time the amount of urination is small, but the frequency is frequent, etc., indicating that the day is about to give birth.
2. Record the delivery duration and interval in detail: check the sows several times a day. The average duration of sow delivery is 2.5 hours, and more than 8 hours may be dystocia. The average delivery interval between the two piglets is 16 minutes. If the sows are quiet and the piglets are born a few minutes apart, it means that the delivery is normal. On the contrary, sows are very restless, extremely nervous, constantly taking responsibility, which seems to be very laborious, and the interval between farrowing is more than 45 minutes, which may be difficult to give birth, so we must pay enough attention to it.
3. Pay attention to artificial midwifery: sows generally do not need help during delivery. It is very important to decide whether midwifery is needed in the process of delivery, which is difficult to master. On the one hand, there is no need to rush to midwifery, because midwifery will increase the risk of birth canal infection; on the other hand, if the delivery process is not smooth and midwifery is not carried out in time, it will not only increase the stillbirth, reduce the piglet's living ability, but also cause the death of sows.
